Over the summer, I want to keep creating mashups and remixes (and I’ll be sure to post them here). Every once in a while, I like to post about things I care about in the Pittsburgh and New Orleans music scenes.
Voodoo Experience 2009 was the first major music festival I had attended. I will be returning this year, for sure.
The full lineup is supposed to be published sometime this month, but I couldn’t find many places online where people have discussed who is rumored to perform.
Here are the rumors I have ran into so far. Feel free to post those I have missed.
Headliners:
- Lady Gaga - This was reported in a New Orleans Jazz Festival message board.Check it out. Apparently she is doing another show in New Orleans this year, so this doesn’t sound too probable.
- Ozzy Osbourne - This one looks good. Ozzy is “making a huge announcement”about Voodoo Fest 2010 on June 17th. Festival Outlook is saying that Ozzy will definitely be making a trip to New Orleans this Halloween.
- Muse - Festival Outlook thinks they are in because there is a gap in the tour dates that fits Voodoo Fest. However, as a poster on a Coachella forum wrote: “As of yesterday, Muse have canceled their November tour dates in Missouri, since their bassist is expecting a baby in November. Muse had previously played St. Louis on every U.S. tour for the past half-decade… and that was a lot of shows. This leaves me scratching my head - Voodoo seemed obvious with the 5-day delay between Virginia and Missouri, but with no Missouri dates now, will the band make the 15-hour drive to NOLA? This is either a really bad sign (perhaps negotiations with Voodoo fell apart, so they scrapped everything after Virginia), or a potentially good sign (a Voodoo show would be Muse’ last tour date in 2010).”
- Stone Temple Pilots - I haven’t found any evidence for the return of the Stone Temple Pilots, but some have good feelings about this one.
I know that those in charge of Voodoo have reached out to fans via Twitter and Facebook over the past year about who to book. If Voodoo actually weighs the reaction of social networking audiences fairly heavily, these bands might be on the roster:
- Daft Punk - A Facebook group formed last year to support the French electronic duo. There are now almost 8,000 members. Aside from that, Daft Punk will be touring again during 2010, which makes it at least somewhat realistic.
What else have you heard?
